For home computers, there are only three different operating systems: Windows, Linux and MacOsX.
Most experts could talk whole days indicating strengths and weaknesses of each of the three!
But people but the experts what to watch?
The ease of use? Or using the program compatibility? Maybe such hardware accessories are better supported!
The same question if they are placed those ZDnet , where in Sydney showed a pc with linux and KDE4 on ordinary people telling him he was a new version of Windows and asking what they thought, what were the positive and negative.
Here's the video:
In practice, people look at the graphics look and feel and little else.
Although, to be truthful, we should see what they think after a few weeks of use.
In my experience, those who are fasting computer accepts "all". I did use laptops with Ubuntu installed, and no one has ever complained. The questions were the usual: how do I read the mail, how do I write a document ...
Sure I have had feedback about a user with few pretensions, but I do not think the difference is then a lot.
The speech, however, changes drastically when they want to try the games, oh well Windows is the host, but even worse when they buy a device and this is not supported in this case concede defeat even more evil!

My oldest daughter (23 years) is completely trusted me, when he started using the computer and never used windows in his life.
In his first computer I did install linux and use only that.
Ditto. My two daughters (17 and 19 years) have been using ubuntu, and even when I bought a new laptop with Vista preinstalled, I have been asked to install Ubuntu because it was facileda use.
