I read eeeguides that you can feed the eeepc with a solar panel, but looking at the specifications of the solar cell (you can find on ebay for a few euros) 5W in full sun, it is unthinkable to feed it while it is running, probably the you can use to charge the battery when not in use, thereby lengthening the overall duration.
I while ago I bought two of these solar cells, are curious to see using both cell how it all works.
