After evaluating several solutions, I show you what I chose for my home NAS.
The selection criteria were mainly the ease of use, does not have a proprietary technology and have a low cost, while technically must meet the following characteristics: have room for at least two disks, can operate in raid 1 (mirror), not having A configuration tool connected to an operating system but to be a browser.
Since I had two 160GB drives, I tried a product that was sold without disks.
I have discarded the brand products "noble", as a matter of cost, did not want to spend more than a hundred dollars, while wondering what the various d-link, netgear, iomega had much higher prices.
I finally directed to an honest GIGA NAS MRT Communication, offering all the technical and practical I was looking for!
All the configuration interface is a browser, once configured and connected to the network can be used from any Windows PC, Mac or Linux.
The configuration was very trivial and lasted a few minutes, even the performances are good.
In addition this nas has a plus: it has the ability to add programs like the torrent, in order to take full advantage of its operation.

Hi guys I have to say that now after two years of using the product I think I have fully satisfied! I recommended it to many colleagues (I am a technical ICT state) and also they are happy with the last firmware goes to those big and small problems that were beginning you have successfully solved!
I do not recommend you put two discs into the facades ammeno that a series of opening for air circulation! A colleague of mine did in a hundred little holes on the front! With regard to Tb in their ability to give it up to 1Tb but I have 1.5 TB in and sees them well!

Hello everyone, I just bought from ebay the NAS and how accommodating up saying "supported disks 1 tb", then putting in raid 1, 2 disks to 1 TB should have raids and see 1 tb properly. someone with the new firmware I confirm that I am raid on 2 drives 1 tb? I ordered today and eventualemnte I cancel the order if their information was incorrect.

Oh the link (firmware) is correct but it is better to download it from http://www.mrt-communication.com/firmware/35HD-NAS-E/G5S604100026700.tar.gz since it is their stuff! For disks greater than one Tb as I said mine has 1.5 TB and it works great to raid with two discs of 1.5 or two I do not know but I think I'm the same (usually depends on the firmware, if someone who frequents this forum knows that there are nos of different firmware versions that are for example the HD spin down, and other goodies!) for the Network repeat that speed depends very much on full power!
If one uses intensively the NAS may 'also have a network gig but will never touch points very high (up to 10 Mb! Cmq that there are many!) I have just one switch in the dlink 1005D with computers and connected to giganas 1000 and the other at 100 (an AP, with a view of a PC and the modem-router with 10Mb tiscali), everything goes great and obvious that if I try the performance that I work on my network (wired backbones and Giga fiber between a switch and the other) there are just two different worlds but also two other costs!
To house the NAS in question is the best thing to a point of view of cost / performance if it wanted to increase both the speed and reliability and the types of servers available (ie aggiugnere such as a webserver!) Will need to address QNAP (models 209-219-239) but have a completely different cost (if taken directly to auction and if purchased are prohibitive!) I recently purchased this NAS. I equipped with 2 500GB RAID 1 and I turned and I've configured with static IP. But I have a visibility problem on the network. Every 15-20 min, the NAS will disappear from the network and is therefore more accessible for a few minutes (whether it is statically mapped, it is accessed through the exploration of the network). I can not be certain but I have another NAS (LaCie) configured in a similar way and it works perfectly for years. In any case I do another verification.
