Microprocessors amarcord

The news you read around now talk of quad-core processors with a zillion transistors, power petaflop unimaginable as if rained. Today I would like to make a brief review to understand and show who does not know from where you started, what were the leading processors of "some" years ago.

It all started from 4004
It was 1971 and introduced the first Intel processor to a 4-bit, the 4004 was the first single-chip microprocessor, with as many as 46 instructions and 16-bit registers 4.
After the 4004 was created in 1972 the first 8-bit processor 's 8008 he was the father of the famous 8080 , a clone of this processor left the infamous Z80 that served to create the famous ZX Spectrum!
The Motorola stood watching and produced the 6800 precursor to the 68000, Motorola and detachment 'ch a group of engineers produced the 6502 used for the Commodore 64 (version 6510) or from Apple to produce his Apple II.
From this point on, the race for power, bits and clock cycles did not stop:
From '8080 left the family of X86, Motorola launched the 68000 family of processors and so on with ever more powerful to this day.

After this series of acronyms, and years, I want to focus on people who did this, and especially of one particular person: Federico Faggin : an Italian, who studied in Italy, in Italian schools and public schools.
I wonder, reading his biography on wikipedia and heard on television of all this chaos on the school if the school has really big problems so as to suffer all these upheavals.
If you really need to overturn everything, by decree, or just need to adjust some things, rejuvenated and renewed. Unfortunately I fear that this will serve to make money, money that you do not want to invest money in research and education throughout.

But the 6502 was not the MOS technology?

The 6502 was the MOS Technology, more 'later built by Commodore.
The conclusions we note that for purposes of Article are not technical / historical, as politicians.

    Quote from Wikipedia:
After having obtained his diploma in 1960, industrial expert ...
He graduated summa cum laude in physics in 1965 at the University of Padua ...

Federico Faggin has stiduato 68 in pre school
Perhaps he was really better before?

Sorry! And 'the 6502 is not true' of Motorola, but it 'was simply done by a group of people emerged from Motorola! A slip of the tongue ...

However, the post does not want to have a political value, but I was just a little 'bitterness of seeing everything that happens in our schools, then seeing that we high-profile cases of "genes" that have made history.

It 'was a slip that cost' dear to Mostek: the Atari when it chose to mount the 6502 instead of 6800 on their consoles, Motorola sued.
If you are interested in the topic "The Spectacular raise and fall of Commodore 'and' what he does for you.
