DO NOT UPGRADE to Mandriva 2009!

Last night he finished the eeep scaicare and install more ...
And from there onwards I started to have problems all over!
Wifi not recognized - problem with the madwifi drivers already 'installed
Skype not working
Not all function keys working
Do not turn off completely ...
I will try 'to make a inatallazione from scratch, to see if these problems are related to upgrading, or own the 2009.
You hold on tight 2008!

I follow mandrriva cooker in general, but I installed from the cd one of KDE 4.
I was amazed at both of perfection 'of the installation and operation of the various components.

probably go with a fresh install, or otherwise check the notes that are released on the wrong site of the 2009

Do not use a Mandrake (note ... the name is not by chance ...) now for divers years. Hitting a eeepc with mandriva I think an evil too great ...

Ubuntu will also be a crap in some ways (sull'aziendale around even with the 7.10 because I do not trust 8.04), but it is a paradise compared with mandriva ..

    Anyway, all moot, of course.)

Too, 'I did the' automatic upgrade, and that 'in the middle interrorrtto' leaving me with the laptop not working ... :-(

Usefulness of this post? But above all, the usefulness of the index it Ziobudda like a 'WARNING' who knows how much?

Wifi not recognized, skype "not working", "not all function keys working", "does not fully shutdown" ....

I hope you have opened within the unstable Mandriva bugzilla [ https://qa.mandriva.com/index.cgi ] NO NO for your bug report problems, trying to include more than just technical details and futile 'it does not work!. ;-)

Do not take it badly, however attach more info if you claim to have answers make more sense of a 'well, back to Windows', 'wow, Linux sucks'.

    Counterproductive as it appears ;-)

Throughout the history of Mandriva (I follow since 2005) has given each new release nell'upgrade problems. It 'a limit to which Mandriva is easily remedied in two ways: a.reinstallare from scratch (ok takes away a bit' of time) b.tenersi updated with cooker (but has a less stable).

So: no alarm, Mandriva has recently made great strides, not everything is in place but the improvements are significant with each new version.

PS: I would like to point out: you can not expect that the programs installed with rpm third party (Skype) or installed directly from source (madwifi from what I understand reading) work after an upgrade of this magnitude.

Well, Mandriva is a distro with a question mark for each release. I had tried, in 2006, a little to see what it offered.

No, I do not separate myself from Debian :)

installed it on the Asus Eee?
If so the problem is that you have upgraded your kernel, go back to the previous kernel and everything will work as before.

    @ Emanuele and Miky4e
if you try it for many years so why do not you shut up which is better? how can you make judgments on something you do not know? I'm sorry, I speak ill of ubuntu because when I tried the 4.5 I had problems?

with regard to the problems we are wrong:

    Guys, do not worry!
My post refers to an upgrade from 2008 to 2009 on an eeepc, I do not speak ill of mandriva indeed!

Only I aspettvo an easy upgrade ubuntu style, where I went from 7.4 to 7.10 and finally to 8.4 without problems.
But now I have a eeepc unstable, it crashes every now and then. Where I had to argue with the madwifi drivers, skype does not want to know where to go ...
To be an enthusiast of technology COMFORTABLE, this upgrade is not '.
Returning to the old kernel does not change anything.
I will try 'installation reinstalls though and a' really bad solution.
Soon you will write 'how and' round!

I was fitted with a separate HD and I downloaded and installed the unbundled version 2009.
Well I would say that this version is to be reviewed.
The desktop painful and poorly configured, if you enter new keys move on the desktop (coated) those residing in the bottom bar, if you ask for a calculator will appear half off screen, and above all does not detect wifi wireless card, the "old" in 2008 constituted the blink of an eye ...
Erased everything and installed the 2008 spring ... I hold dear to me.
    Hello
