The eeepc is on average well to do everything you need, but sometimes it seems slow, it lacks that touch of panache that could solve some unforeseen situation ... it comes with skype, browsing, while referring to a document ... well poor CPU may not be reactive, and then switch to a higher clock can help.

The installation that I followed is via FTP, in practice it creates a flash / sd with the minimum starting and answering simple questions (which would also be installing a cd) download the package via ftp and then the next install.

For about a year I own an Asus Eee PC 701, a mini notebook, laptop or whatever you want to define ...
Many complain that the keyboard is too small, or the monitor is tiny 7-inch, I will I complain about the fact that no matter how small, has a 7-inch form factor, totally!
As far as I'm concerned the real strength is portability and lightness, while many think that these networked computers are an inexpensive version of the portable 15-inch and then they want all their features, but only a characteristic of this category portable, low price!
